Perfectly fit what I was looking for. Very minimalist yet elegant design and looks. Solid piece of furniture - should last for years. All parts seemed sturdy and well designed as I was putting it together yesterday. Took me about 3 hours, which was a bit more than what I expected it to take (2 hours for the bottom cabinet and 1 hour for the top hutch). Overall, extremely happy with the purchase! My wife absolutely loves this unit. This was purchased to support having a better place for a 'coffee station'. We have grinder and accessories under neath the buffet. One (1) K-Cup maker and one (1) espresso station sitting on top of the buffet section.** Our specific intended use came with similar questions of others, will my items actually fit under the hutch / on top of the buffet based on the area provided (that microwave-oven-placement, area). Here are a couple additional measurements to consider: Left/Right opening (width) approx. 26.5". Height, at the sides of the mouth 15 1/16" (to the left of our kcup brewer, or to the right of our espresso machine, up/down). Height at the center of the opening (between our two coffee machines) 15 3/4". Hope this helps. What we noticed while laying out the pieces was a few important details.- Directions: some of the best we could have asked for. Great drawings, large views, cross examination is possible by comparing steps and drawings.- Labels: Hardware was very well labeled (with "words", and not just some cryptic design requiring a chart to decipher). This made preparing for assembly even simpler.- Preassembly: Many of the tiny and annoying components (drawer rails, hinges, etc.) were all pre-assembled. This saved a lot of time, pain and prevented some human error.- Protection: every piece was well labeled for easy assembly. Many layers of foam and cardboard prevented damage and allowed the pieces to go together very easy.Pro's:- Very Solid furniture once assembled.- Small footprint- Looks classy- Adjustable feet for stability- Not some cheap Walmart junk- Everything well labeled, directions good- The bottom edges of the hutch has Felt on it to prevent scratching and reduce slippage on top of the buffet- Hardware is included to attach the hutch to the buffetCon's:- Right-hand doors must be opened FIRST before you can open the left (just opening a Left-door causes both doors to open with unnecessary pressure on the right). *This is due to their being a lip on the left-side (by design). We seriously do not like this feature. It would be best of both doors closed/opened independently.- Quite heavy, overall** Though costly (for us), we can honestly say you get what you pay-for, in this item. The design, weight, strength, stability, good instructions, well protected, ease of assembly and more, made this a day-and-night experience compared to those cheaper items. Most Highly RecommendedThis is an incredibly cute piece of furniture! It is also quite sturdy. Excellent value for the price I've had it for months now and still admire it while sitting at my kitchen table. The unit arrived on schedule, all the parts were included (even extra on the hardware), the assembly time was as expected based on the reviews, and the unit is really sturdy. It looks great!! But I haven't been able to load anything into it because of the varnish smell. I've tried airing it out in the garage with the doors open and putting a couple trays of baking soda in it - no luck. Does anyone have other suggestions?Overall, for the price, the finished product is worth every penny and I would buy again/recommend to a friend. If I could do half star increments I would say 4.5 stars because of assembly but I can't and really, once I got it together I was pretty happy with the piece. Now to go into details...Materials: For the price I couldn't ask for better materials. It's all wood which is hard to find at this price point. (Except maybe the back panels which are a very convincing composite) The wood is "Asian Hardwood" which is code for rubberwood. Rubberwood is a softer wood that is between pine and cedar on the hardness scale. So as long as you're not expecting to get solid oak furniture for less than $400 you'll be pleased. Others have said that the windows in the upper doors are plexiglass- if they are, it's a very convincing plexiglass because I'm 99% sure mine is tempered glass. Also, the "cherry" top is a bit darker than the pictures which I don't mind, it's very pretty, but be warned if you are trying to match it to other pieces.Packaging: there is an insane amount of packaging and the styrofoam sheds like crazy. It comes in three boxes (four if you count the box for the top/hutch that just contains the glass doors which is inside the box for the hutch/top). Pretty sure volume wise that the boxes are 60-70% styrofoam. It might be excessive but I wouldn't advise that they change that because it does a pretty good job of keeping the pieces safe during shipping but be warned. Try to open it in a garage or patio or somewhere that the styrofoam fluff will be easier to clean up. Or have a vaccuum handy. And I hope you have access to a dumpster because this will take up your entire curbside trashcan if you don't. Pretty sure I clogged the trash chute in my building with just the styrofoam from one box. Oops.Assembly: If I could dock half a star for this portion I would but its not fair in retrospect. And once you have it together it's kinda of irrelevant -anyways. All I can say is have patience. It can be done by a single person but for sanity and time considerations, I would advise getting someone to assist you. I did it alone 80% of the time and it took me about 5 hours plus a few breaks. I mainly used help in stabilizing pieces while I attached them to each other. It's also quite heavy and you have to hoist the top onto the bottom so assistance in that phase is really valuable. Assembly is not the most intuitive and the instructions aren't that great. There is literally one step that just says attach approx 8 pieces to each other and you just kind of have to figure out in what order it works best. Also, some of the "preattached" piece aren't attached so well so it helps to go over those pieces to tighten the those screws. There were also few holes that were a little tight and I had to widen just a hair. I didn't even use the drill for this- I just hand twisted the bit a half turn- I think those holes were just under threaded or maybe some paint got in them. In the end though my piece came together nicely and I feel like it's pretty sturdy. Just let give yourself plenty of time and have a glass of wine when you're done. :)BE PREPARED TO GO THE HARDWARE STORE TO BUY CAM LOCKS !!! THE ONES THEY SEND DO NOT WORK. THEY SELLER HAS NOT CORRECTED THIS!!I had an issue with the cam locks that came with the unit. I called customer service and they sent me a new set. They did not work either. I ended up going to Home Depot and getting different cam locks. Finally, the unit came together. It’s a lot easier with two people. Plus be aware of the directions they are kind of deceiving. The little pictures are difficult to follow. After it was finally put together, it looks great. It is also very sturdy. It was a little difficult to follow the directions but with a little extra time it made a nice additionAn excellent small buffet for storing dishes. The wood is of very good quality and the design works well with other furniture in the dining area. There is ample storage space on two levels. The only disadvantage is the set of drawers. I had thought, by the measurements of the unit, that the drawers would be of standard size, and therefore, would be able to house my cutlery. Unfortunately, the drawers do not extend to the back of the unit. They are, therefore, much smaller and cannot fit even the smallest standard size of cutlery container. They are also too small for regular size placemats.
